Giveaway #5 Winner Profile: Lindsey Deibner and the 2022 Ford Bronco Everglades

Lindsey Deibner of Everett, Washington, scored one of the most unique SUVs on the road when she was 717 Supply’s giveaway #5. Her prize? A 2022 Ford Bronco Everglades, which is engineered for water crossing and mud-running activities that would leave other vehicles stuck.

The Everglades edition is the most water-capable Bronco. Unlike other trims in the lineup, this version came factory equipped with an air-intake snorkel and a heavy-duty Warn winch. These features would be pricey upgrades otherwise. This factory-fitted Warn winch has a 100-foot synthetic line and a 10,000-pound capability, which could mean the difference between self-recovery and calling for help.

Other Everglades-specific upgrades include raising the vent tubes for the axles, as well as the transmission and transfer case to enable safe passage through up to three feet of water. That’s almost three inches better than any other Bronco trim or the Jeep Wrangler.

The Everglades gets motivated by a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission controls the standard four-wheel-drive system. While other Bronco trims are available with more powerful V6 engines, the Everglades is tuned to deliver effective low-speed torque to support better off-road traction.

The Everglades also includes the Sasquatch Package, providing front and rear locking differentials and 35-inch Wrangler mud-terrain tires. The seven selectable G.O.A.T. (go over any terrain) driving modes include a “Mud and Ruts” option. The Everglades comes with unique square wheel arches to accommodate the larger tires, giving this Bronco a more athletic stance than its stablemates. At the same time, the Bronco Everglades has topographical graphics on the front fender reflecting the vehicle's wetlands inspiration.

Yet, as is typical for 717 Supply, it couldn’t let Deibner’s SUV stay completely in stock. Notably, the factory wheel and tire setup was swapped with 18-inch Fuel Zephyr wheels inside 35-inch Toyo mud tires. The configuration enhances off-road capability while creating a more aggressive appearance. The bright red rims also give this Everglades a noticeable color pop. Expanded window tinting also creates a more cohesive look.

Another significant 717 Supply modification is the addition of a Corsa exhaust, which substantially upgrades the mild factory unit. The new system gives the Bronco a more distinctive sound without compromising daily-driving characteristics.

With off-road missions in mind, the Bronco Everglades features washable vinyl seats and floors, making the cabin hose-friendly for post-adventure washdowns. Integrated floor drain plugs allow for easy water removal after water crossings. Rubberized steering wheel switches also help keep water at bay. The interior has a 12-inch touchscreen with Ford’s Sync 4 infotainment system and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In a 2022 review of the Bronco Everglades, Car and Driver said, “Those who can get their hands on one will be empowered to explore deeper water and drive through more difficult obstacles than owners of other Broncos—the Everglades encourages fearless off-roading.” With her new SUV in the driveway, Deibner is ready to take advantage of these capabilities.
