Giveaway #6 Winner Profile: Ramon Vega and the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD High Country

Some phone calls are more memorable than others. Such is the case with Ramon Vega, who recalls his reaction when 717 Supply Founder Mike Hyssong contacted him as the winner of a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD High Country along with $50,000. The reaction was predictable: “I almost fainted,” Vega recalled.

Vega’s success with 717 Supply’s giveaway #6 couldn’t have been better timed. His son had recently endured a serious incident that required brain surgery. “I was in an accident and my dad’s been helping out,” the younger Vega shared during an interview with his father. Underscoring the importance of family, the father moved in to help his son recover emotionally, physically, and financially. The prize offered a much-needed boost during uncertain times.

Equally notable about Vega’s win is how little he spent to enter the giveaway. All it took was two chamois detailing towels: a $40 purchase that turned into a $140,000 score.

Vega first discovered 717 Supply through YouTube. “I like to watch car videos always, so one day I found him and I started following,” he said of how he stumbled onto Hyssong’s Street Speed 717 channel. From there, Vega became a regular viewer. “I never miss one. I watch all of his videos.”

Despite his enthusiasm, Vega wasn’t even sure which giveaway he’d entered. “I’d like to win the Corvette, I’d like to win the TRX,” he said, laughing about other 717 Supply giveaways at the time. Hyssong joined in with, “You know what? It worked out.”

Vega’s reaction upon seeing the Silverado High Country in person was heartfelt. “Wow, man, that’s too much for me,” he said, clearly moved by the truck’s presence. Seeing it in person was even better than watching it online. “It’s better than the video,” he said, taking in its size and luxury features.

The $50,000 cash was just as meaningful. At first, Vega thought the amount was much smaller. “When they told me it’s fifty thousand, I thought it was fifteen,” he recalled. The actual number took time to sink in.

Vega offered simple advice to anyone considering entering a giveaway: “It is real. Go ahead and check, you know, and just buy anything for family and friends because it can happen to anybody like me. I didn’t believe it.” He’d gone from skeptic to believer in one unforgettable phone call.

Ultimately, Vega’s experience was more than winning a truck and a bundle of cash. His giveaway success is a reminder that help can appear when you least expect it. All it took was two towels to turn into something life-changing.

About the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD High Country

Ramon Vega’s 2024 Silverado 3500 HD High Country is Chevy’s flagship heavy-duty truck, offering maximum pickup capacity and luxury amenities. This particular truck features General Motors’ legendary 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-diesel V8 engine, which cranks out 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque, a 25% increase in low-end torque over the previous generation. Chevrolet manages the output through a ten-speed Allison transmission.

717 Supply’s modifications upgrade the truck’s already commanding presence without sacrificing work-ready functionality. This started with removing factory chrome elements from the grille, bumpers, and trim pieces while preserving some Duramax badging for visual balance and diesel bragging rights. Next, a BDS lift kit provides additional ground clearance and accommodates the upgraded wheel and tire package. New TIS wheels wrapped in aggressive Amp Terrain tires give the High Country a dominant stance while maintaining premium ride quality. The power-operated tonneau cover features single-section and full-cover operation modes.

The cabin reflects the High Country’s position at the top of Chevrolet’s HD lineup. The new-for-2024 cabin centers around an oversized 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment display supported by a 12.3-inch configurable driver information center. The driver-centric layout creates a command center feel, with controls canted toward the operator for improved ergonomics and accessibility.

Advanced camera technology includes 14 viewing angles with a surround-view monitor; an essential feature given the truck’s footprint and height. The system also provides a view of the cargo bed and trailer hitch area.

Leather upholstery, automatic climate control, wireless device charging, a head-up display, and premium Bose audio round out the equipment list that makes this heavy-duty truck as comfortable for daily driving as it is for workplace duties. Add all the extras from the factory, and Vega’s truck has a window sticker approaching $87,500. The upgrades from 717 Supply take this Silverado 3500 HD High Country north of $90,000.
