Giveaway #15 Winner Profile:

James Manzanares and the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing

James Manzanares of Winchester, Virginia, knows what it’s like to go from hopeful to doubtful—and then to stunned disbelief. His entry into 717 Supply’s giveaways started back in April 2021, and after nearly two years of trying, he finally struck gold. The prize? A fire-breathing 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing with 800 horsepower, plus a $30,000 bonus.

He first came across 717 Supply through Mike Hyssong’s Street Speed 717 YouTube channel, back when Corvette content was front and center. “I started following Mike probably around when he was doing a lot of his Corvette content with his ZR1,” he recalled. “I just enjoyed watching those videos, the races he’d go do at the track in New Mexico and everything.” So when the giveaways kicked off, James jumped in.

His order ended up being a memorable mix: “Not a Dad Bod Father Figure” and “Thicker Than a Snicker” t-shirts, along with two shot glasses. He wasn’t just buying merch for entries; he genuinely liked the fit and feel. “The quality of the shirts is great. I love how they fit snugly in the right places, especially for a guy—you want to go out there looking good,” he commented.

Unlike some winners who participate occasionally, Manzanares has entered almost every giveaway since the beginning. In the early days, he was fueled by excitement and the belief that it could happen. “I was really hoping to win one of these cars,” he said. “But then after a while I did get a little like, ‘oh, am I really going to win?’”

Manzanares added, “Honestly, after the first time I entered and didn’t win, I started to doubt whether I could ever win, especially since I maxed out the entries for that giveaway.” Eventually, his mindset shifted. Rather than chasing a win, he began buying only the things he liked. “I wasn’t too focused on trying to win so hard as I was at the beginning. I was honestly just buying stuff because they’re great,” he said. That change helped him build a stronger connection with 717 Supply and took the pressure off.

When the call finally came, though, things didn’t click right away. “At first I thought, what if I am one of those people that are getting tricked right now, especially with all this AI technology,” Manzanares said. It wasn’t until he saw the announcement posted online that it sank in. “It wasn’t until I saw the post that I was like, ‘Okay, all right—this is getting real.’”

The car reveal was everything he hoped for, minus one awkward twist. When asked whether he could drive a manual, he had to come clean: “I can’t drive manual,” he admitted. “Mike was like, ‘When were you going to tell us that?’” Still, he took it in stride and was ready to learn.

His friends and family were blown away. “Everyone was super excited and never thought they would know someone who won a car. Some have started entering now,” he said. Manzanares already had practical uses in mind for both prizes. “I’m going to use the car and most likely use it as a daily,” he said. “As for the cash, I’m probably going to use it to pay off any bills or debt that I have.”

For anyone on the fence about entering, James had this to say: “The people out there that are hesitant, just buy something. It really is the quality of the products and the shirts. You never know, you might end up going home with a new car, too.”

About the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing

James Manzanares’s 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is the ultimate in American luxury performance sedans. This Rapid Blue example showcases Cadillac’s final hurrah for a naturally aspirated V8 engine paired with a manual transmission, making it a standout among modern muscle cars.

The heart of Manzanares’s Blackwing features significant enhancements over the factory 668-horsepower specification. 717 Supply installed a Magnuson 2650 supercharger with a GripTech green pulley, transforming the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT4 V8 into an 800-horsepower monster producing approximately 730 rear-wheel horsepower. Supporting modifications include a complete Corsa exhaust system with long-tube headers and high-flow catalytic converters, as well as DSX valve covers to accommodate the supercharger installation.

Inside, the Blackwing features sport seats with white leather that complement the Rapid Blue exterior. The six-speed manual transmission includes rev-matching and multiple driving settings accessible through the V-mode button. Alcantara headliner, carbon fiber accents, and an AKG sound system are just some of the premium features of this Cadillac.
