Giveaway #18 Winner Profile:

Bruce Harvey and the 2022 Shelby GT500

Sometimes, the smallest thing can have the biggest impact. That’s definitely the case for Bruce Harvey, whose simple t-shirt purchase from 717 Supply transformed into a winning entry for an almost 800-horsepower Shelby GT500. 717 Supply’s giveaway #18 also included a $30,000 prize.

Greer, South Carolina, resident Harvey came across 717 Supply on social media and decided to try some detailing products. “I bought some car wash just to try it and figured I’d enter for the giveaway,” he recalled. That one small order turned into more purchases and more entries. “Next time around, I checked out the shirts and saw a few I liked.”

When the call came in, Harvey didn’t immediately put two and two together. “At first, I was trying to remember what I even entered. I thought I was in the running for the truck, not the car I actually won,” he said. Unlike some winners who instantly realize what’s happening, Harvey was confused at first.

But once 717 Supply Founder Mike Hyssong gave him the news, it really hit fast. “As soon as he told me, I knew it was legit,” Harvey said. The hard part was getting others to believe it. “My mom thought it was a scam. Friends thought I was joking.”

Harvey stayed calm and persistent. “I just kept saying, ‘It’s real. I know it’s real.’ And eventually, they believed me,” he said. When asked how he pulled off the win, he kept it simple: “Bought a t-shirt. Bought a keychain. That’s it.”

The trip to Pennsylvania was worth the effort, as this was Harvey’s first chance to see the GT500 in person. Awestruck by the reveal, his reaction was predictable: “Amazing!” From the Recaro seats to the multiple exhaust modes, everything about the Shelby blew him away.

Harvey was all smiles as Hyssong walked him through the car’s features, including showing him the differences in the quiet and track exhaust settings. “That thing is sick. It’s loud. It’s wild,” he remarked.

Once back home, Harvey took full advantage of his situation. “I drove it around to show family and friends. Everyone wanted a ride,” he said. Harvey reported that his brother gave the car a nickname, “Brittany,” after the color.

Now, Harvey’s a regular in 717 Supply giveaways. “I do every time now,” he said. And to those thinking about trying their luck, his advice is simple: “It just takes one entry. And at least you’re getting something you can use.” For anyone hesitant about participating in online giveaways, Harvey’s story speaks for itself. “No one doubts me now,” he said. “The car’s sitting in my garage. It’s real.” Sometimes, all it takes is buying a t-shirt and a little bit of luck.

Beyond the thrill of driving, Harvey says the best part of owning a Shelby is connecting with people. “When someone comes up to say how much they love the car, that’s the moment I enjoy the most.”

About the 2022 Shelby GT500

Bruce Harvey’s 2022 Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition isn’t just any Mustang—it’s the most powerful production car Ford has ever made. Under the hood is the monstrous 5.2-liter supercharged “Predator” V8, originally pumping out 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque. Unlike most Mustangs, this one comes exclusively with a lightning-fast seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which helps rocket a factory-spec unit from 0 to 60 mph in around 3.4 seconds.

This particular Heritage Edition, with only 1,300 miles on the odometer, is finished in Brittany Blue with classic white racing stripes, a paint combination offered exclusively for the 2022 model year and a nod to the original 1967 GT500. Inside, the Recaro front seats strike a perfect balance between track-ready bolstering and everyday comfort.

In true 717 Supply style, founder Mike Hyssong didn’t stop at stock. Harvey’s car received notable upgrades that take the Shelby’s presence and performance to the next level. Gloss-black, lightweight race wheels with aggressive spoke cutouts were swapped out for the factory set, reducing unsprung weight and adding serious style (Harvey still received the original rim and tire set). The exhaust got a major revamp: a custom Corsa system with valve control that lets you dial the volume up or down. Paired with an H-pipe setup, it ditches the higher-pitched whine in favor of a deeper, throatier growl.

To squeeze even more power from the setup, a JLT cold air intake was added. That small change bumps output by about 30 horsepower and sharpens throttle response, all while maintaining the factory warranty.
